At Heritage Oak, we insure that only
the best product goes into our wines. For the most part,
we grow all our own fruit, with only a few exceptions.
Our pesticide program employs a "soft" approach that
emphasizes pest specific chemicals that are harmless to
the environment, beneficial life forms and safe for the
applicator. Our methods certainly cost more in time and
money, but they reward us with quality: the quality of
our life and the quality of our wine.
Due to state shipping
regulations we can only ship to the following states:

2009 SAUVIGNON BLANC
This wine was harvested in two batches on
September 9 and 10, 2009. The grapes were picked cold
and went directly to press (no crushing). The juice was
cold fermented and processed in a single 2500 liter
stainless steel tank. The wine has had no exposure to
oak, either through barrels or oak additives, so as to
enhance the fruit flavors present in the wine. Malo-lactic
fermentation has also been suppressed. It was bottled on
February 16, 2010.
This remarkably clear wine is fragrant
with strong suggestions of ripe melons and citrus. On
the palate, it is crisp with a pleasant texture, with
lemony flavors are followed by overtones of grapefruit.
A clean, pleasant finish makes this a very enjoyable
wine. Served with a light lunch or as an aperitif.

2009 CHARDONNAY
The grapes this wine was made from were
harvested at sun up on September 15, 2009 from our 13
acre vineyard along the north shore of the Mokelumne
River. Half the 6 ton lot was crushed. The second half
went directly to press. Then the crushed portion was
pressed after having allowed the juice to rest on the
skins for three hours to extract their delicate textures
and nuances.
The juice was fermented at 50 degrees F
in a single 2000 liter tank, taking one full month to
complete its process. Like the 2009 Sauvignon Blanc,
this wine has had no exposure to oak and malo-lactic
fermentation has been suppressed. It was bottled on
February 19, 2010.
In the glass, this wine has the slightest
straw hue. The bouquet is floral in nature with a
suggestions of lemon and pear in the background. On the
palate it has a clean crispness, a balance of fruit and
acidity and a delightful silky texture. This is followed
by a clean, appealing finish. Enjoy this wine chilled as
it is, or with any meal that might be complemented by
its crisp, lemony character, such as sea food or green
salads.

2008 TEMPRANILLO
The fruit this wine comes from is grown
on property owned by Steve and Sharon Shinn along Davis
Road west of Lodi, CA. This variety is widely planted in
Spain, where it thrives in the hot, dry summers to
produce a rich, enticing wine. Our Lodi Appellation’s
arid summers are very similar and we believe is a good
match for Tempranillo.
During the growing season, our vines
receive minimal irrigation to limit berry size. The vine
canopy is opened by the practice of leaf removal to
bring in sunlight and the crop is heavily thinned to
promote early development for good acidity at harvest.
Once the wine is made, we blend in 25% Graciano for an
improved pH and brighter color profile. This wine was
barrel aged for one year before bottling.
This Tempranillo is dark and rich in
color. Its bouquet is characteristic of the variety,
with strong suggestions of well oiled leather accented
with subtle floral notes. It is a soft wine on the
pallet with appropriate acidity and tannins that carry
it into a pleasant finish.

2007 BLOCK 5 ZINFANDEL
This wine is produced from grapes grown
on a small five acre vineyard planted by Tom Hoffman’s
grandfather, Verne Hoffman Sr. back in the late 1960's.
The vineyard is not tilled, to promote the native
grasses that populate it during the late winter and
spring. Because of the extremely sandy soil found there,
the vines struggle to grow and produce a meager crop of
three tons per acre. The result is limited growth and
small bunch size.
This is a rich and intense wine with good
color and an intoxicating bouquet. It was blended with
8% Carignane for color and tannins shortly after
fermentation was complete. On the palate, characteristic
Zinfandel spice is well balanced with acidity, oak and
tannins. It has a clean finish that is underscored by
the one year old American oak barrels it was aged in.

ZINFIDELITY
This ruby colored, medium weight red wine
is our "adulterous" blend of Zinfandel and Cabernet
Sauvignon. It is medium bodied but well balanced on the
palate where Zin spice is followed by the smooth texture
of Cabernet. It finishes with the lingering taste of the
oak barrels in which it was aged. This wine would
complement almost any meal with bold, zesty flavors but
stands very well on its own.

2007 VINO TINTO
This is a red wine with deep color. Vino
Tinto, meaning simply "red wine" in Spanish, is a blend
of Zinfandel, Syrah and Petite Sirah. Its aroma brings
hints of smoke and oak. On the palate it has weight and
substance, with fruit and good acidity balancing with
smooth tannins. An exceptionally long finish is built
around the American oak barrels it was aged in. This
wine calls for a full flavored meal with red meat or
hearty tomato sauces.

BARTLAM ZINFANDEL
In the glass, this
Zinfandel is a wine of medium color intensity. It
exhibits an earthy bouquet with subtle hints of coffee
and oak. On the palate, however, there is nothing medium
about it as it reveals itself to be a bold wine with
hearty mix of ripe fruit, good acidity and a healthy
backbone of tannin. This gives way to a smooth clean
finish.

BARTLAM ZINFANDEL
The grapes this wine is made from are
grown in a vineyard owned in part by our friends, Rad
and Nadia Bartlam. The vineyard sits on the bluff
overlooking the Mokelumne River in deep Hanford Sandy
Loam soils. The vines are trellised in east/west rows
for full exposure to the sun, provided with minimal
irrigation during the growing season, and the crop load
is reduced to a mere 3 tons per acre to give utmost
concentration of flavors to the remaining fruit. After
fermentation, this wine was blended with 10% Petite
Sirah for additional depth and structure.
On the nose, this wine gives earthy,
leathery aromas above more subtle suggestions of fruit.
On the pallet, ripe fruit flavors are prominent,
balanced with good acidity. One year of aging in new
French oak barrels provide this wine with a delightful
vanilla finish.

SYRAH
These Syrah grapes were grown in the
rocky, shallow soil of the rolling hills near Lockeford,
CA. The grape vines struggle in this location, eking out
meager growth and producing tiny berries, full of
intense flavor and color.
This is a dark, vibrant wine. The bouquet
is layered with leathery and floral notes. On the pallet
appropriate acidity and a strong suggestion ripe black
plums are followed by soft, gentile tannins. The
American oak barrels that gently cradled this wonderful
wine for a full year proves a suitable backdrop of
flavor for this wonderful wine.
